## What are vitamin *infusions*?

A vitamin infusion is a measured dose of vitamins and minerals delivered straight into the bloodstream, where the cells that need them can reach them. Because nothing passes through the digestive tract, absorption is complete and the dose is exact.

A modern life is a high-stress life, and it makes real demands on the body. Replenishing that way is practical rather than indulgent, which is why most of our clients treat drips as maintenance rather than rescue.

Every Hygeia infusion is physician formulated with high-quality nutrients, and the nutrients themselves are ones your body already requires to function. Because each person starts somewhere different, Holly will tailor the formula and the rhythm to you.

## What's the difference between a vitamin drip, Push, and shot?

1–4 hours

### Vitamin drip

Electrolytes, vitamins, minerals, or antioxidants are given in a bag of fluid such as normal saline. Drip times run 1 to 4 hours depending on the formula.

[See vitamin drips →](https://ozoneandalternativetherapies.com/treatments/vitamin-drips/)

15–20 minutes

### Vitamin Push

The same nutrients are injected directly into your vein by syringe, with no fluid infusion. It takes far less time than a drip, so most appointments run 15 to 20 minutes.

[See vitamin pushs →](https://ozoneandalternativetherapies.com/treatments/vitamin-pushes/)

5–15 minutes

### Vitamin shot

Intramuscular shots place nutrients directly into the muscle, with no IV placement at all. These appointments are quick, usually 5 to 15 minutes.

## How to prepare for your drip

Be well hydrated and well fed. Eat one to two hours beforehand, ideally a warm meal with water in it, such as soup, pasta, or vegetables and meat. Warm food activates the rest-and-digest side of your nervous system, which opens the blood vessels in your skin and lets nutrients reach deeper into tissue. It also makes placing the IV easier and the infusion more comfortable. Dry foods such as chips and bread do the opposite.

If your veins are hard to access, prepare a little more deliberately. Drink two cups of water with a quarter teaspoon of sea salt the day before and the day of, which helps your body hold more water in the blood; dehydrated veins irritate easily. Light exercise on both days helps as well, since it stimulates blood flow and lowers inflammation. Over the longer term, forearm and bicep work at a weight you can carry for three sets of eight improves access noticeably, and we have worked with many clients to get there.

On the day, wear something that gives easy access to your arms. New clients should send their forms ahead so your nurse has time to review them. Then it is vitals, the IV, a blanket, and 45 to 60 minutes that are yours; bring headphones, a book, or your laptop.

## Vitamin drip questions

### 01 Am I a good candidate for IV vitamin therapy?

Most healthy adults are. Drips are most often chosen by people managing dehydration, low energy, or a demanding stretch of work or training, and by people who want steady preventive support. Holly reviews your history before your first infusion to confirm a drip is appropriate for you, and no prescription or prior consult is required to book from the standing menu.

### 02 How should I prepare for my drip?

Be well hydrated and well fed, having eaten one to two hours beforehand. A warm meal with water in it, such as soup, pasta, or vegetables and meat, activates the rest-and-digest side of your nervous system, which opens blood vessels and makes both the IV placement and the infusion itself easier and more comfortable. Avoid dry foods such as chips and bread, which have the opposite effect.

### 03 What if my veins are hard to access?

You are not out of options, and we have improved many clients' veins over time. The day before and the day of your appointment, drink two cups of water with a quarter teaspoon of sea salt or Himalayan salt, which helps your body hold more water in the blood. Light exercise on both days helps too, since it stimulates blood flow and lowers inflammation. Forearm and bicep work at a weight you can carry for three sets of eight is the fastest structural improvement.

### 04 How long does a drip take?

Most drips run 45 to 60 minutes. Adding a booster such as an Alpha Lipoic Acid, NAD+, or Phosphatidylcholine infusion adds up to two hours, so plan the visit accordingly. Vitamin pushes and shots are the faster alternatives when time is short.

### 05 What happens when I arrive?

Come in comfortable clothing that gives easy access to your arms, with your forms completed ahead of time if you are a new client. Your nurse checks your vitals, places the IV, and then you settle in with a blanket. Bring headphones, a book, or a laptop; most people read, work, or rest through the infusion.

### 06 How much do drips cost, and is there a membership?

Drips run from $160 for IV Basic to $450 for IV Living Cells Support, and nearly every formula has a reduced VIP-member rate, typically $20 to $50 less per visit. If you plan to come in more than once a month, the VIP membership generally pays for itself. Boosters are priced separately.

### 07 How often should I get a drip?

It depends on the formula and your goals. Several are recommended up to once a week, others every two weeks or monthly, and detox formulas are often run quarterly as a general flush. Holly sets a rhythm with you rather than selling a fixed package, and shots or pushes can hold you steady in between.
